Bad news, this track is broken. Good news, we're working on it.
Najee: From Water To Wine
on: September 21, 2011
I am addicted to music. I enjoy creative sound in all shapes and forms. Sound combined with wisdom motivates me, rejuvenates me, scoops me up when I'm down, and helps me reach higher ground. Yet in these recent months I found other ways to stimulate my mind, no longer enthused about what I was being offered as a consumer. I was disgruntled at having to piece together words on tunes I wasn't feeling. I became frustrated with what they say is hot. I don't believe what we are fed by the monopoly represents the full spectrum of who we are. Because this is a qualm many of us share, my quest for good music was officially revitalized. This musical journey began with my ears open and my mouth closed, hoping to discover artists who were not branded by a mainstream mentality. Their voice is their own, and it is evident in their music. On my search I came across this particular individual who is comfortable shining in his own light. NY-bred emcee Najee first caught my attention with his record "To Tomorrow". It is a personal toast to hip-hop, and a lyrical commitment to create quality music. Najee is not a complete newbie to the game, and has garnered a number of accomplishments while on his grind to make music. He made appearances on HBO's Def Poetry Jam, and is a part of the okayplayer. family (Najee rubbed elbows with hip-hop icon The Roots on the video for their single "Dear God 2.0"). He recently released a mix-tape called From Water To Wine, which includes production from Ski Beatz and John Cave, among other notable beat-makers. Personal favorites include title track "From Water To Wine", and "Be Thy Self", which does delightful things to my ears. Hopefully you like listening to what I'm feeling. I'm already on the grind for more good music to share. My ear is to the pavement, so your wait will not be in vain. Until next time!
