Returning with a full-length album, Love Apparatus (after 2012’s Zulu Guru), Jesse Boykins III expects to take listeners through a movement – a love movement. Unlike his mainstream peers, Boykins is able to turn his weaknesses for women and love into strengths as he turns his own form of vulnerability and honesty into sensual odes and lustful declarations. With most of the production created by Machinedrum, the tracks Boykins communicates through are all hypnotic R&B. In delving into the 14-track album, the songs that are definitive are "I Wish", "Show Me Who You Are", "B4 The Night is Thru", and "The Wonder Years". Throughout, Boykins still maintains the structural elements of melody just enough to not be so far left that listeners are left in a trance however, what fans and new listeners alike will appreciate is the simplicity of his differences from standard soul and R&B. Love Apparatus is just the tool to continue extending Boykins musical reach in exploring the outer reach of the genres.
